Distributed Computing Infrastructure

The Distributed Computing Infrastructure (DCI) is the architecture that provides the foundation for ITS's distributed computing environment. A distributed computing environment is a system of networked machines that share resources. Currently an effort called the Distributed Computing Initiative is being made to push the DCI from ITS's production computing services into UNC's general computing community in order to provide a consistent, reliable, and easily managed environment.

The DCI is composed of a core set of components (resources) that are available to all of its participants. To tap into these resources, all you have to do is participate.
