Sure, everyone does these things. But they may put your computer at risk. Stuff happens. That’s why the ITS Response Center (also known as the ITRC or the Help Desk) and ResNET are here to help you through your Carolina years.

SASB: ITS represents the south side
Residents of South and Middle Campus, you’re in luck! Shortly after the start of school ITS will open an ITS Response Center and an ITS Computer Lab in the new Student and Academic Services Building (SASB), located at Manning Drive and Ridge Road.
If you need computer help, you’ll be able to bring your laptop to the ITRC in SASB or the one in the Undergraduate Library. For up-to-date hours of operation, visit http://help.unc.edu/?id=2083.

Thinking about Vista? Think again.
It’s new, it’s Microsoft and it’s everywhere. But it’s probably not time yet to upgrade to Microsoft Windows Vista. At this time, Windows Vista is not supported by UNC-Chapel Hill Information Technology Services.
The concern is due to Vista’s software incompatibilities, which affect commonly used software applications on campus. ITS is aware of the issue and is examining the impact that Windows Vista has on campus, while preparing to support Vista in the near future.

ITS adds wireless printers to residence halls
You’re in college - “the dog ate my homework” just won’t cut it anymore. But watch out – now “I couldn’t find a printer” won’t either. ITS has worked with Student Government to add 17 new printing stations to campus, making it easier than ever to print your classwork.
Over the summer, 17 residence halls at UNC-Chapel Hill were outfitted with HP Laser Jet 9050 printers. These printers, like computer lab printers, are release stations that allow students to send print jobs through either a wired or wireless connection to the computer location of their choice.
